The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship roared into Finland for the first time ever at the brand-new KymiRing, and the 13th round delivered relentless action under blue skies and brutal conditions on the soft, rough terrain.
In the MXGP class, Lucas Coenen put together a flawless weekend for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, taking a dominant 1-1 sweep and securing his third Grand Prix win of the season—and 13th of his career—on the 13th of July, at round 13. The Belgian’s lightning pace and daring line choices, especially through the uphill wave section, left the competition scrambling. Even a mistake in Race 2 couldn’t derail him—he recovered with style and reclaimed the lead to cap off a perfect weekend.
Championship leader Romain Febvre had to dig deep after a crash in Saturday’s qualifying and poor starts in both motos. But the Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP rider clawed his way to second overall with 5-2 finishes, limiting the damage in the title race. His championship lead shrinks to just 15 points heading into Loket.
Calvin Vlaanderen made it a memorable day for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, riding in retro 70th Anniversary colors and clinching his first podium of the season with consistent 4-3 results. He fought hard all day, including a brief spell in the lead in Race 2 before Coenen surged back.
Glenn Coldenhoff was one of the stars of the day for Fantic Factory Racing, grabbing both Fox Holeshot Awards and showing top-end speed, though a Race 2 collision with Ruben Fernandez derailed what could have been a podium finish.
Other notable rides included Brent van Doninck’s season-best 4th in Race 2, pushing him to 6th overall, and Alberto Forato, who delivered a pair of 7th places—his best result since 2023.

In MX2, it was Kay de Wolf who emerged victorious for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, marking his third GP win of the season. After a smart and clinical charge in both motos, de Wolf passed all key rivals—most notably on his signature move through the uphill wave section—to go 1-1 and slash his championship deficit to 48 points.
Andrea Adamo put in a determined ride to finish second overall for Red Bull KTM, showing consistency with 2-3 results. His late-race pass on Thibault Benistant in Race 2 kept his championship hopes alive.
Meanwhile, Sacha Coenen grabbed yet another Fox Holeshot and held the lead early in Race 2 before de Wolf reeled him in. Despite feeling under the weather all weekend, the Belgian held on for third overall, his third podium in a row and another strong showing for Red Bull KTM.
Simon Längenfelder, the red plate holder, had a quiet weekend after an early off-track moment in Race 1. Finishing 6-5, he now sees his championship lead narrow, with Adamo and de Wolf breathing down his neck.
