Unfortunate news from a talented Italian MXGP rider Alberto Forato. After gaining his confidence, building his momentum flirting with the top ten results in a tough MXGP class, he has sustained an injury at the recent round at the MXGP of Finland, that will require surgery and then rehabilitation, which is usually not very short.
Alberto shared: “Definitely not the news I wanted to share… During the GP of Finland, I suffered another injury to my already badly damaged knee, and after a week of tests and examinations, I’m forced to stop and undergo urgent and complicated surgery. ACL torn, both meniscus destroyed, collateral ligaments compromised, and the list goes on. For me, the season ends here, but as always, I’ll give it my all to come back at my best. Thanks to the SR Honda team, my sponsors, and everyone who supports and believes in me.“
While the surgery for such injury is quite common, the rehab certainly isn’t easy and short. Usually it takes athletes between 6-12 months to return competing, some even earlier, but it very depends on how the recovery is proceeding. It’s a painful one but remember, also Jett Lawrence had such a surgery lately and at least by his results, it seems that the knee doesn’t bother him at the moment.
Nevertheless, we are wishing Alberto Forato a speedy recovery and hope to see him soon back at the MXGP gates.
