The waiting is over for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP squad, as Maxime Renaux returns to racing after sitting out the MXGP of Great Britain and Finland to continue recovery from a hip injury sustained in Switzerland earlier this season. The French rider, who kicked off his 2025 campaign with a dominant win in Argentina, is back and aiming to return to the podium in the second half of the season.
Maxime Renaux stated:
“I’m feeling much better. After a few weeks of rest, the hip is pretty good now. I have been able to start training again. I have some pretty good memories from Loket, like podiums in both classes, MXGP and MX2, so it’s a track that I really like. I’m going into this weekend without any pressure or expectation. My goal is purely to rebuild after a good amount of time off the bike. So that’s where we are at, I want to get back to where I started this season, and end the season strong.”
Joining him on the gate will be Calvin Vlaanderen, currently fifth in the MXGP standings. Fresh off a podium finish in Finland, Vlaanderen arrives in Loket with momentum and confidence. The Czech circuit is a proven hunting ground for the South African, who claimed race wins there in both 2018 and 2023. The hard-packed, old-school layout is expected to complement his smooth and technical riding style.
Also lining up is Jago Geerts, who will take on the Loket circuit for the first time aboard a 450cc machine. Despite recent minor injuries, the Belgian has been building form and confidence on his YZ450FM and is expected to continue climbing the championship standings.
Located just 130 km west of Prague, Loket is a fan-favorite venue, known for its steep elevation changes and clay-based surface. Can the Yamaha squad make a strong statement in the second half of the season?
Stay tuned for updates throughout the weekend as the action unfolds in the Czech Republic.
